Ten Things I Like About Being Married

I know I’ve done my share of husband-bashing, but I sincerely believe a moderately healthy marriage has lots of positive aspects to it. For example:

You get to cook for someone.
Even if you don’t like to cook, cooking for someone else feels a lot better than cooking for just yourself.

Someone awaits you.
Especially when you’re running late and he gives you that “I-can’t-believe-how-late-you-make-me” look, being waited for makes you feel cozy and special inside.

Your entertainment is pre-screened.
You can spend your free time watching things that he guarantees you’ll like, instead of clicking on substance-less video after video on the Internet.

There is someone willing to fix things for you.
You could learn to do things yourself, but that would take hours. Instead, he learns to do things for the both of you, and you can spend that time doing stuff you enjoy.

Spouse is on your side
When someone does something mean to you, Good Husband will be on your side.

You have physical intimacy with someone loyal.

Someone cleans the litter box when you fall sick.

Date-night is obligatory.
He has to enjoy the pleasure of your company for at least a couple hours a week. No excuses.

You don’t have to talk if you don’t feel like it.
But if you feel like talking, he has to listen.
You can go on and on about past relationships and then when he tries to do the same thing, you can just tune-out since you already know his stories.

AND of course, you get to take care of someone.
