I used the incorrect ISO on this shot. My gut said 400 but an online guide said 100/F20. I ended up using 100 but it was too cloudy. Lesson learned: in photography always trust your gut. Or at the very least, take the time to go back and look at your own settings on old photo files. >>
After seeing the image on my camera screen, I expected nothing. It was completely black. I decided to open up the RAW/NEF file and see if there was any info on it.
After playing with different settings in Photoshop for a few hours, I was able to salvage this, and decided to publish it more as a learning experience. Things aren’t always what they seem.

Misión “DART” (prueba de desviación de doble asteroide por sus siglas en inglés) de la NASA – 1a prueba para desviar un asteroide. Lanzaron el cohete desde la base Vandenberg el 23 de noviembre por la noche, rumbo a la luna de Didymos, llamada Dimorphos. La foto fue tomada desde Ojai.
Use el ISO incorrecto para esta foto. Mi instinto me decía que usara 400 pero un guía en línea sugirió 100/F20. Al final usé 100 pero estaba demasiado nublado. Aprendí la lección: cuando se trata de fotografía, vale más seguir el instinto. O por lo menos debí haber buscado qué niveles usé para retratar lanzamientos de cohetes anteriores. Pero ya ni modo.
Tras ver la imagen en la pantalla de mi cámara, no esperaba nada. Estaba completamente negra. Decidí abrir el archivo RAW/NEF para ver si albergaba más información.
Tras mover diferentes configuraciones en Photoshop por algunas horas, pude rescatar esta imagen, y decidí publicarla por lo que la experiencia me enseñó. Las cosas no siempre son tal como parecen.
